Freedom Of Information Act 2000

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 (2000 c. 36) is the implementation of freedom of information legislation in the United Kingdom on a national level. It is an Act of Parliament that introduces a public "right to know" in relation to public bodies. The Act implements a manifesto commitment of the Labour Party in the 1997 general election. The final version of the Act is believed to have been diluted from that proposed while Labour was in opposition. The full provisions of the act came into force on 1 January 2005.

Family Pay Tribute To Melvyn Hadley.

Tanya Higgins, Melvyn Hadley Junior's mother has issued a tribute to her son on behalf of the family.

She said: "Melvyn was a homely lad who loved his family very much. He visited his disabled grandmother everyday and did her shopping as well as helping her around the house. He would do anything for anyone and was well liked in the area where he lived.

"He was a huge Arsenal fan who loved his music and enjoyed clubbing every weekend because of the music.

"Melvyn was a free spirit and the family are devastated by what's happened. We can't believe that someone has killed him on his own doorstep. I'll never get over this. It's as if someone has ripped my soul out.

"Someone must know who has killed my son and I want the person who did it to take the consequences. If anyone knows anything about this murder they should contact the police straight away."
